New LEGO sets for Christmas

    The age on the box

A guide to piece size and build length; under 3, the small-parts warning comes first.

    What else do parents ask?

Where can we see every LEGO set, not only the new ones?

The GiftExperts LEGO Finder filters every set we pick by age, theme and size, older sets too.

What does the age on the box mean?

It tells you how small the pieces are and how long the build takes, not how clever a child is. A younger child can build an older set with a grown-up next to them, and the box size on each card shows how big the build is.

What if they already have last year's set?

Then this year's building is the one to add. Every building fits next to the others, so the village grows each year.

    DUPLO or LEGO?

DUPLO bricks are twice as long, twice as tall and twice as wide as LEGO bricks, so small hands can hold them. Most children move to small LEGO bricks from about age 4, when the box says 4+.

    How big is 1,000 pieces?

A set of about 1,000 pieces comes in a box about the size of a board game, and a child often builds it over a few evenings. The cards show a build time from 300 pieces up. A few hundred pieces is an afternoon or two.
